October Touchdown: Your CFP Houston Host Committee Newsletter

A MESSAGE FROM CHRIS MASSEY, HOUSTON 2024 HOST COMMITTEE PRESIDENT

October has been a huge month for our Houston Host Committee and the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority. As always, I am so excited to see our hard work beginning to take shape as the countdown has officially reached double digits and the first set of College Football Playoff rankings were revealed on Halloween night. Over the last 31 days, we have honored several outstanding educators from the Houston area through our College Football Playoff Foundation (CFPF) game ball recognition events. Most notably, we awarded 10 game balls to Alief ISD educators and got to celebrate the Alief community at their Alief Proud Day at Crump Stadium. Let's also discuss the impact! The Houston 2024 Host Committee is working hard to create new partnerships and activations throughout the city to promote CFP National Championship Week and increase our event's lasting legacy.

This month, we are excited to shine a spotlight on one of those vendors: PromoPrint Group. HOUSTON HOST COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT:

At the Houston 2024 Host Committee, we are proud of our team. In fact, we are so proud of them that for October we have the honor of spotlighting our incredible colleague Courtney Randle-Gaines. Courtney, our Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager, loves connecting with the people she meets through her job. Witnessing the transformation of major sporting events and seeing their influence is something that Courtney holds very close to her heart! What do you love about Houston? As a young girl, I fell in love with different musical arrangements from Chopped and Screwed music.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to shop for new clothes/shoes, listen to R&B music, and watch reality TV.

WHERE WE’VE BEEN AND WHERE WE’RE GOING

In the month of October, we celebrated our amazing educators at Houston Loves Teachers Nights with the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash. We also got out and about at Cigna Sunday in the Park, Alief Proud Day, and at football games all across the area. We presented commemorative game balls to dozens of Houston-area teachers and our Houston Loves Teachers mural campaign got underway as professional artists began meeting with students at multiple schools to help design the mural to be painted on their campus. Is there an event where you’d like to see us? Please let us know by dropping us a line at 2024CFP@HoustonSports.org! We’re always looking for ways to connect with fellow Houstonians.

Don't forget to save your spot at the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit in Houston, an event created to honor and empower our teachers! If you are a teacher, this is your chance to learn, connect with other educators, and have access to a wealth of materials that will advance your career. Make a difference in your classroom and beyond by registering today!
